Spreadsheets

I will use spreadsheets in my Kindergarten classroom for parental involvement. I will be able to keep in contact with the parents of my kindergartners to know who is available when and keep them up to date on what kind of parent help is needed. I will create surveys so it is quick and easy communication. I will also have the parents help their students take surveys and fill in information for homework using google spreadsheets.

Gmail doc

The google docs program is a pretty sweet resource. There are several things that teachers can do to help their students learn in a fun technologically advanced way. One that I have seen was the teacher taught about the scientific method using google docs and spread sheets. The students were able fill in spread sheets and have discussions about their projects. The doc program would be a very fun way for students to do homework together but they don't have to be in the same room. It's a convenient way to have cooperative groups. I am excited to use google doc in my classroom!

Friday the 13th

Typically when you think of Friday the 13th one thinks of something frightening, but today is actually my roommate’s favorite day of the year, it’s her birthday. I like birthdays, but I like scary stuff just as much. So we decided to combine the two and have a Monster Bash!  We didn’t want her to know about the party so it was supposed to be a surprise.   The suspense is growing as we try to keep a secret that could be the biggest event of the year.  The plot all centers around the cake.   We’re going to hire a stripper to jump out of the cake when she blows out the candle and scare her! He will be dressed in nothing but frosting, well actually we’ll probably just have one of our friends dress up with one of those fake hot bodies so it doesn’t get too risqué.  We just love her so much we want to make this day really special for her.  That was the plan and we all hope it turns out the way we had it intended.

The YETC

The YETC was such an exciting thing to learn about. There are so many resources in there I have to no idea where to begin. I would like to just go search through EVERYTHING but there is too much. I will use it as often as time permits for the many lesson plans I will be writing in the years to come. The YETC has great resources but I think the greatest resource in there is the people who know what is there and how to find it. I am going to start reading the news letter that they put out so I can know about the many free resources that are available to me and the ones that always will be. One of the things that I am hoping I will be able to use as much as possible before I graduate is all the computer programs that they have purchased for our use. I hope to learn about all the resources available to me to make my classrooms as exciting as possible.
